These terms cover buying a Dawn Doc licence and using this website and the licence service. Using the Dawn Doc app itself is covered by the End-User Licence Agreement. "We" are Bit Direction Ltd, a company in New Zealand.
Buying a licence
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
- A Dawn Doc licence costs US$10, paid once. Any sales tax or VAT is worked out at checkout.
- Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms apply to your purchase as well as these terms.
- A licence covers every 1.x version of Dawn Doc on up to 3 computers at a time that you own or control, on any mix of macOS, Windows and Linux. A later major version (2.0 and up) may need a new licence.
- Your licence key is emailed to the address you give at checkout as soon as Paddle confirms the payment.
The free trial
Dawn Doc runs free for 30 days from its first launch on a computer, with no account. After that it opens, shows, searches, copies and prints your documents, but doesn't edit, save, create or export them until you add a licence.
Refunds
You can have a full refund within 30 days of buying, no questions asked. See the refund policy.
Your licence key and your account page
- Keep your key to yourself: it is how a computer proves the licence is yours. Sharing it with other people breaks the licence agreement.
- The account page signs you in with a link sent to your email address. Anyone who can read that email can manage your licences, so keep your email account secure.
- You can remove computers from a licence on the account page up to 3 times in 30 days for each licence; write to us if you need more.
Using this website and the licence service
Please don't misuse them: no attacks, no attempts to get round the licence checks or the limits on activation and sign-in, no automated requests beyond what Dawn Doc itself makes, and nothing unlawful. We may block access that does any of these.
We work to keep the licence service available, but can't promise it never goes down. A computer needs it once, to activate; if it is unavailable, try again later. A computer that is already activated keeps working without it.

This site uses the Outfit, Figtree and JetBrains Mono typefaces under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Their licence texts: Outfit, Figtree, JetBrains Mono.
Paddle, macOS, Windows, Linux and the other names here belong to their owners.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from this website or the licence service, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for your licence. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other law that can't be excluded. If you buy Dawn Doc for the purposes of a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 doesn't apply.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version on this page, with its date, is the one that applies. They are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction.
