Dawn Doc End-User Licence Agreement · Version 2026-10-16

This is the same text as EULA.txt, which comes with the app (Help › About Dawn Doc › Licence Agreement).

This agreement is between you and Bit Direction Ltd, a New Zealand company ("we", "us"). By installing or using Dawn Doc ("the Software") you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

1. Trial

You may use the Software free of charge for 30 days from its first launch on a device. After the trial the Software opens, displays, searches, copies and prints documents but does not edit, save, create or export them until you add a licence.

2. Licence

When you buy a licence we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to use the Software, version 1.x and its updates, on up to three devices at a time that you own or control. You may move the licence between your devices by deactivating one before activating another. Licences for testers or reviewers may expire on the date stated when they are issued.

3. Restrictions

You may not: sell, rent, lend, sublicense or distribute the Software or a licence key; share a licence key with other people; remove or alter the Software's licence checks, notices or labels; or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent the law allows despite this restriction.

4. Your documents

The Software works on files on your devices. We do not receive your documents. The Software contacts our servers only when you activate or deactivate a licence (see the Privacy Policy at https://dawndoc.com/legal/privacy).

5. Purchases and refunds

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and handles enquiries and returns. You may ask for a refund within 30 days of purchase for any reason; a refunded licence stops working on new devices.

6. Third-party components

The Software includes third-party components under their own licences, listed in the Software's Third-Party Notices. Those licences govern those components.

7. Warranty

The Software is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in this agreement limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other law that cannot be excluded. If you acquire the Software for the purposes of a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from the Software, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.

9. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the Software and delete it.

10. Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction.
